Sights and activities

We provide recommended routes to help you explore the area with ease, while those looking for a more curated experience can also join guided e-bike tours.
These electric-powered rides make exploring effortless, allowing you to cover longer distances without sacrificing comfort. Whether you choose an e-bike for a more active experience or an e-roller for a smooth and easy ride, both options offer a unique perspective of Etyek’s landscape.
It is a historic ecclesiastical building of medieval origin located on the outskirts of Etyek. It stands on a hilltop and was formed from the remains of the main church of a small former settlement called Bot (Botpuszta).
The church is already mentioned in the Árpád era, and in the 15th century it was expanded in Gothic style. During the Ottoman occupation, it was partially destroyed, and later rebuilt in the mid-18th century at the initiative of Nazarene monks and local landowners, incorporating Baroque elements into the structure.
Today, the church is a protected monument. Although it cannot be visited from the inside, it is well worth seeing from the outside for those who appreciate historical heritage and the peaceful rural landscape.
The Magyar-kút (Hungarian Well) is one of Etyek’s most unique monuments, built in the early 19th century in a Neoclassical style. The spring provided drinking water for centuries for both people and animals in the surrounding area.
Thanks to careful restoration work in the 1990s, it can once again be seen in its original beauty. During this time, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was reinstated, and a memorial dedicated to the victims of deportations was also placed here.
The surroundings of the well are not only of historical and religious significance but are also a protected natural site—such a combination of a structured spring and architectural setting is considered rare even on a national level.
The Calvary Hill in Etyek is one of the town’s most distinctive religious landmarks, built in 1825 through the joint efforts of local residents and craftsmen. The stations lead up to the hilltop in an unconventional, zigzagging arrangement, where they are arranged in a circle – a spatial design that was considered particularly modern for its time. The niches are decorated with images painted on metal sheets, the creator of which remains unknown to this day. The Calvary Hill was completely renovated in the spring of 2000, and its official handover and consecration took place during the Etyek pilgrimage festival.
Among Etyek’s most iconic landmarks are the historic Round cellar and its row of cellars, which serve as living reminders of the town’s winemaking traditions. Although viticulture was already present in this region during Roman times, Etyek truly became Budapest’s “vineyard” starting in the 1860s. The hundreds of stone-carved cellars and wine press houses built during this period still define the character of the village today. Alongside the row of Roundcellar, the “Goat pit”, the row of cellars on Sóskúti Road, and the uniquely atmospheric wine press houses are all attractions that reflect the uniqueness and history of the Etyek wine region.
"New Hill" wine cellars (Újhegy, Gastro promenade)
The “New Hill” Gastronomic Promenade is one of the most popular and vibrant parts of Etyek, where the traditional row of wine cellars comes to life – not just with wine, but with flavors, aromas, and encounters. The old wine presses and cellars now house wine bars, small restaurants, bakeries, and artisan workshops. Here you’ll find the Sonkamester, Optimus Winery, Debreczeni Winery, Rókusfalvy Estate, Hegedűs Cheese Factory, and countless other wonderful spots. The promenade welcomes guests year-round with events, open tastings, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere; visitors return not only for the delicious treats but also for the personal stories and the hospitality of Etyek. This promenade also hosts the Etyek Picnic, held twice a year, which draws more than 15,000 visitors over a single weekend.
“Old Hill” is the quieter, more elegant side of Etyek – with rows of wine cellars winding through the vineyards, breathtaking panoramic views, and distinctive wineries. Here you’ll find, among others, the Etyeki Kúria, the Haraszthy Winery, the Vértes Estate, Budaprés – famous for its apple cider – and the Method restaurant – each with its own distinct style, yet all sharing common roots in the wine region’s traditions. “Old Hill” is the ideal setting for a leisurely wine tasting, a long lunch, or a deep conversation among the vineyards – where time slows down and the wine tells its story.
Nyakas-limestone
Rising on the outskirts of Biatorbágy, “Nyakas-kő” is one of the most spectacular natural formations in the area – a unique limestone massif resembling a rocky outcrop, shaped by the erosive forces of nature over thousands of years. The limestone formation is not only a geological rarity but also a popular destination for day trips: its lookout point offers a beautiful panorama of the Zsámbék Basin and the Etyek Hills. Along the hiking trails, visitors can enjoy birdwatching, picnicking, and easy hikes, making Nyakas-limestone an excellent destination for those seeking a bit of active recreation alongside their wine-region experience.
The Alcsút Arboretum is one of the most unique natural and historical attractions in the area, just a short drive from Etyek. Spanning nearly 40 hectares and situated on the grounds of the former Habsburg castle park, the arboretum is home to hundreds of unique tree species and reveals a different face with each season: in spring, the famous snowdrop field; in summer, the walking paths beneath the leafy trees; and in the fall, the colorful display of autumn leaves attract visitors here. The romantic atmosphere of the English garden, the small ponds, and the shady paths offer the perfect escape, whether it’s a family stroll, a romantic outing, or a peaceful experience in nature while exploring the wine region.
Korda Studios
Korda Studios is one of Etyek’s most exciting and unique attractions, where visitors can get an up-close look at the world of filmmaking. This world-class studio complex has been the setting for famous international and domestic productions, and now anyone can discover the secrets behind the scenes. The film park’s interactive exhibits and set towns – such as the New York street scene or the historical sets – offer a real experience for all ages. It’s an ideal outing for families, movie fans, or even team-building participants – especially if you’d like to spice up your wine region excursion with a little Hollywood flair.
The Diana and Zoltán Fishing Lake and Recreation Park is located between Etyek and Alcsútdoboz, nestled among picturesque hills, just a half-hour drive from Budapest. Set in a well-maintained, natural environment, the recreation park is the ideal choice for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The diverse fish populations in the two lakes and the comfortable, well-equipped piers offer an excellent experience for both beginners and experienced anglers, while the playground, snack bar, and landscaped surroundings provide plenty to do for non-fishing guests as well. The friendly alpacas living on the grounds add a special atmosphere to the location, making a visit not only relaxing but also rich in experiences. The venue is ideal for events, gatherings with friends, or even team-building activities, where the tranquility of nature and the lakeside ambiance are guaranteed to rejuvenate you.
BloomHill Etyek
BloomHill Etyek is one of Etyek’s most spectacular spring attractions, where the colors and scents of nature come together to create a unique experience. The carefully cultivated tulip fields bloom with tens of thousands of flowers, allowing visitors not only to admire the colourful spectacle but also to pick their own bouquets. The well-maintained surroundings, panoramic location, and seasonal opening hours offer a truly charming experience, perfect for photography and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for couples, families, and groups of friends alike.
